Once these conditions are detected, SAS immediately engages the Swing Lock Cylinder to stabilize the rear axle. When this mechanism is engaged, the stability footprint of the forklift is changed to rectangular in shape, from triangular. This change in stance leads to an increase in stability and substantially reduces the possibility of a lateral overturn from occurring. The Active Mast Function or the Active Control Rear Stabilizer also adds more stability and greatly helps accidents and injuries from happening.
