Reach Truck
In order to keep storage places orderly and to pile up pallets of goods and supplies, a reach truck could be utilized. The reach truck is available in several kinds: the straddle reach, stand-up reach and the double-deep reach.
The stand-up is the most basic. The forks of the truck slide under the pallet and move it to the correct storage place. The forks slide the pallet into place. This particular kind of reach truck is suitable when shelving units are one pallet in depth.
Best for workplaces where the shelving units are deep enough to have two pallets of goods, the double-deep reach truck, which is similar to the stand-up, is usually used. This model has telescopic forks intended to put the pallet at the back of the shelving unit. This saves having to push the pallet back when another pallet should go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the additional advantage of being able to not just slide beneath the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are recommended for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in many directions. This particular model is ideal in situations where goods will not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
In most warehouses, there are normally more than one kind of reach truck. Manufacturing facilities and textile companies utilize different types of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not difficult to use and could increase production while maximizing available storage space.
