Change an LPG Cylinder
There are various types of sources that could power forklifts. They could run from gasoline, liquid propane or LP gas, battery or diesel. LP is a clean burning fuel preferred for numerous uses. There are several facilities which have large liquid propane supplies on site. This enables forklifts to be refueled anytime they need. In other places, the facility would have spare LP cylinders that could be changed out when the machinery should be refueled.
So as to prevent possible serious injury, specific precautions must be taken when changing out an LP cylinder. For example: be sure to put on the correct safety equipment such as heavy gloves, safety glasses or goggles. Make sure that you turned off the forklift ignition prior to changing out the tank. Next, close the cylinder valve by turning it until it is firmly closed. Use your hand to loosen the hose connection to the tank. Keep in mind that it will turn in the opposite direction of a standard connection and never utilize a metal tool or any kind of wrench on these connections. They are meant to be tightened by hand only.
